Children will learn to express and label “sad” feelings.
Children will learn the words “sad,” “disappointed,” and “miserable.”
Together you will create a Word Garden:
Print one copy of the “Word Garden Flower Pot: Sad” and one of “Word Cards Flowers and Poses: Sad”
Introduce each word, say the definition, and do the pose. Give examples of feeling “sad,” “disappointed,” and “miserable.”
Have the children take turns “planting” (taping) the cards onto the flower pot page.
Children will review the day’s feeling words as they chant and move. As you say each line, prompt the children to repeat it after you:
I don’t feel happy. Boo hoo.
I feel sad, let me tell you.
Something didn’t work out. Boo hoo.
I feel disappointed, let me tell you.
Something made me feel super sad. Boo hoo.
