Sesame Street in Communities

WOSU Classroom

WOSU Public Media serves a quarter of the state of Ohio. Our broadcast service and educational program reach goes well beyond our state’s capital and surrounding suburban settings, but also branches out to many rural communities. A staple of our WOSU Classroom department is our Ready to Learn program which boosts more than 20 years of professional development service delivery to our rural communities. With this extensive background of supporting the communities, our educational team has developed strong relationships with the community child care providers, libraries and local Jobs and Family Services agencies. We are proud to have built a strong partnership with the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD), Ross Pike Educational Service District, and Tri State Family Childcare Cohort to assist with providing professional development programming, resources, research, and help for specific education needs in small, rural Ohio schools. Thanks to the amazing grant from SSIC and the help of our partners, we are able to provide our rural community with much needed resources for the tough challenges our kids face in these areas.
