You might not think Elmo and the Chamber of Commerce for a major city would have a lot in common, but as one of SSIC’s first partners, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and all the gang at Sesame Street are doing big things for children and families across KC.
For more than 130 years, the KC Chamber has been leading the way to a better KC region by convening innovative leaders, collaborating with like-minded organizations, advocating for positive change, and helping small businesses grow.
Two of the KC Chambers top priorities revolve around kindergarten readiness and revitalizing urban neighborhoods. The KC Chamber understands that it cannot move the region forward without building a solid foundation for its kids, particularly kids who may have experienced trauma and poverty in their lives. Through this partnership, The KC Chamber offers its members and partners the SSIC tools to help children build resilience and strengthen connections with their communities. It’s paramount to the KC Chamber to create a community where businesses can thrive, and also where children can grow to be successful, productive, and healthy members of the workforce.
“Our partnership with SSIC has allowed us to broaden our reach in our community-based work. We have connected with an audience on projects around resilience and early childhood education that would not otherwise be possible for an organization like ours without SSIC as a partner to give us additional credibility.” Scott Hall, Senior Vice President, Civic and Community Engagement, KC Chamber.
