Super Parents

A video that shows how grown-ups, especially front-line workers can reconnect, recharge, and focus on the positive.

Parenting is hard—caring for everyone and yourself is a tough balance to strike. Being a parent and an essential worker (or a family member of an essential worker) during a pandemic can feel even more challenging. You may feel worried, tired, or both. But there are things you can do to recharge your “super powers” and keep a positive outlook.

Daniel is an EMT on Sesame Street. In this video he talks about his feelings, and shares a few things that help him keep going.

After watching, take a moment to consider ways you might find a moment of encouragement and calm:

  • Charge up. Just like Daniel, envision yourself as a superhero. Which super powers do you need to charge up on daily to care for others, your family, and yourself?
  • Breathe deep. Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths. As you breathe, think of some people you were able to help today.
  • Give thanks. Practicing gratitude can help us all keep a positive outlook. Each day, try jotting down three things you’re thankful for.
