Kids may have the same responsibilities in different settings, but routines can help them connect lessons between school and home. As you watch, notice what is the same and different about the routines of table-setting and handwashing at school and at home, and consider these questions:

1. Doing the same tasks at school and home helps kids build confidence in both settings—when children know what to expect, they know what’s expected of them. What tasks are the children in your care likely doing in both places?

2. A regular school routine of group mealtime is a great way for children to strengthen their relationships with peers and adults. How might you add special ways for children to interact at group meals?
