Together, watch how a little girl is spending time with her grandfather. Talk about the special skills and interests she shares.  Ask children, “What special activity would you like to do with your grandparent(s)?”

Whether you are the grandparent, or the parent, you might:

  • Start sharing family stories and sketching out a family tree.
  • Prepare a special family recipe together, and talk about where it comes from.
  • Talk about your own parents’ or grandparents’ specials skills and talents. Make a plan to share one of theirs with children.
  • Exchange pictures or notes to let both grandparents and grandkids know how much they are loved and valued.
