Children can heal through strong connections with supportive, caring, and trusted adults. Watch this video together and meet Lily, a sweet and hopeful seven-year-old Muppet whose family is experiencing a tough time. Lily’s a great name for her, because lilies symbolize hope.
Help children do what Lily did:
- Use crayons or markers to help your child draw his or her own dot-to-dot heart on paper (or white board or chart paper), talking about who each dot represents (try for as many dots as possible, considering social workers and other helpers).
- Help your child write names or draw pictures near each dot.
- Finally, help your child draw him or herself in the middle.
