All children need to form a positive self-identity based on how they look on the outside and who they are on the inside!

Print this page and sit with children as they create (provide as wide a variety of crayons or colored pencils as possible). Follow the conversation prompts and write down their ideas around their portrait (print two copies so you make one for yourself, too!).

Explain that how we look on the outside (such as our skin, hair, and features) is a big part of who we are, and that our “inside” qualities are important, too. As they reflect on how they look on the outside, help them consider what makes them unique on the inside as well.
